The “Ray of Hope” home for people with mental disabilities or with multiple disabilities in Budapest’s 23rd district received a hydrotherapy unit built with a 100 million forint (EUR 320,000) government grant and inaugurated on Thursday by Minister of State for Social and Family Affairs Miklós Soltész.
The institution – founded by a church 90 years ago and currently belonging to the Ministry for Human Resources – is home to 113 disabled people. Mr. Soltész said at the inauguration that the home will also receive another 40 million forints (EUR 128,000) for an energy system upgrade to be completed by the end of the year.
Mr Soltész praised the district’s two politicians – Mayor Attila Szabolcs (Fidesz-KDNP) and Member of Parliament and of the local council Zoltán Németh (Fidesz-KDNP), for their continued attention to the cause of disabled people.
Mr. Szabolcs said the Ministry investment will offer the home’s occupants water therapy, relaxation baths, water gymnastics and massage. It also has a lift that can lower people with severe movement disorders into the water.
Within the framework of the New Széchenyi economic development plan, the Government allocated over 47 billion forints (EUR 151 million) since 2012 to the rehabilitation and integration of disabled and multiply disabled people.
