Enikő Győri, Minister of State for EU Affairs, declared that the younger generations should become familiar with the EU so that they can learn about the advantages of EU membership.
In Budapest, Ms Győri and European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth Androulla Vassiliou spoke about the „We Are Europe” Programme, which will be launched in Hungary on 21 March 2014.
The Hungarian Minister of State for EU Affairs pointed outthat this program targeted the younger generations and it was important that they should learn about the advantages about which little is said in the everyday political discourse. She pointed out that although the popularity of the European Union was decreasing in Hungary, its recognition was higher that the EU average.
Androulla Vassiliou said that the more young people learn about the EU, the more European they will feel. She recalled that the founders of the European Union also intended the EU to bind together the citizens of Europe.
