Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang is scheduled to arrive in Hungary on September 15, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary announced on 13 August 2013.
During his three-day stay, the two countries are to sign an inter-governmental agreement on a large-scale nuclear training program, the Ministry said in a statement. In preparation for the visit, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zsolt Németh and Deputy State Secretary Péter Wintermantel held talks with Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son on 13 August.
The two sides stressed that due to a large-scale scholarship program implemented some decades ago, Vietnam is home to the largest non-Hungarian community with a command of Hungarian. The two governments agreed this July to multiply the number of Vietnamese students learning in Hungary.
„Strengthening bilateral ties with traditional partners in Asia forms part of the Hungarian Government’s policy of opening towards the East,” the statement explained. Two-way trade increased by 8 percent, approaching 90 million dollars last year.
