The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary welcomes that Nicos Anastasiades, President of the Republic of Cyprus, and Derviş Eroğlu, leader of the Turkish Cypriot community, have agreed on the joint declaration about continuing the negotiations on reunification.

Hungary is committed to promoting a comprehensive, enduring and fair solution in Cyprus on the basis of the UN Security Council decisions and the EU norms. This is why Hungary has been taking part in the UN peacekeeping mission (UNFICYP) since 1993.

Hungary supports the efforts aimed at developing the direct relations between the Greek Cypriot and the Turkish Cypriot communities.
