The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary follows with deep concern the crisis in Ukraine, which resulted in lethal casualties again on Tuesday, and which threatens to destabilize the country. We express our condolences to the families of the victims.
the Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group (Poland, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Hungary) called on all responsible Ukrainian parties in their declaration on January 29, 2014, to preserve the stabilitiy of a democratic and unified Ukraine.
We are convinced as one of the neighboring countries of Ukraine that the only way out of the current crisis is to start immediately a comprehensive and meaningful political dialogue.
Hungary condemns all forms of violence, and urges the parties involved to stop the use of force without delay. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary calls on the Ukrainian authorities – in additon to reacting, in a lawful manner, to the acts of violence provoking the law enforcement agencies – to show respect for the Ukrainian citizens’ right to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech.
