Hungary welcomes the results of the referendum held about Morocco’s new constitution on 1 July, which gives evidence of Morocco’s commitment to reforms and good governance.

By approving the draft constitution, the Moroccan people voted for an increase in the political weight of the elected system of representation, for the separation of powers, and for the improvement of the situation of human rights and minorities. This strengthening of the pillars of the democratic institutions is in line with the Advanced Status that the EU has granted to Morocco; at the same time, it opens a new chapter in the political relations between the North African country and the EU.
