The Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran accredited to the UN in Vienna addressed a letter to several representations in Vienna, among them the delegation of the European Union and the Hungarian delegation, inviting the addressees to participate in a visit to unspecified Iranian nuclear facilities in January 2011.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs co-ordinates on the proposal of the Iranian party with the European Union’s High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy and the other member states.

The Government of the Republic of Hungary recognizes Iran’s right for the peaceful use of nuclear energy, but – in line with the declared position of the European Union on this subject – calls upon the Iranian party at every possible forums to observe the relevant UN SC resolutions. Hungary has a prominent interest to see the recently restarted negotiations on the Iranian nuclear issue succeed.
