The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary has learned with deep sorrow and sadness about the passing of Mr. Wilfried Martens.
As co-founder of the European People’s Party and its long-time President, Mr. Martens made a major contribution to European integration, uniting the people of our continent in peace and freedom. With his passing away, Hungary has also lost a good friend and ally who will be fondly remembered and deeply missed.
