The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has set up a memorial plaque to the victims of the Holocaust as well as their saviours at the Pest bridgehead of Elizabeth Bridge in Budapest. Parliamentary State Secretary Zsolt Németh and Israeli Ambassador to Hungary Ilan Mor attended the ceremony and unveiled the plaque.
State Secretary Németh made it clear that today's Hungary does not forget its own past and is ready to face the darkest periods of its history. He said that an independent and free Hungary protected its citizens, noting that the state had established a centre in memory of Raoul Wallenberg, the one-time Swedish diplomat who saved the lives of thousands of Jews.
