Foreign Minister János Martonyi handed over an important Hungarian avant-garde painting to Head of the Hungarian National Gallery László Baán, on the occasion of Hungarian Culture Day on Thursday.
The picture, painted by Csaba Vilmos Perlrott (1880-1955), titled Painters' school, can now be viewed by the general public, as it will be part of the National Gallery’s permanent exhibition.
The 66x80cm painting was discovered in a back room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs building in Budapest in the 1990s, and since 2000 decorated the wall of the Hungarian embassy in Berlin. It has been on display several times in the past few years.
