The warning signs in the outcome of the recent European parliamentary elections must not be ignored, the Minister of State for EU affairs Enikő Győri told an international conference in Budapest on Thursday.
Addressing the conference entitled "EU Reform: a more competitive, flexible and democratically accountable EU," and co-hosted by Századvég Foundation and the British Embassy, Ms Győri called it a prerequisite of restoring people's trust in the EU that member states reach a consensus on common objectives.
She called for respecting EU treaties and focusing on subsidiarity, as well as maintaining the bloc's integrity. These objectives can be best served through efficient cooperation by strong institutions and strong member states, she added.
