Minister of Foreign Affairs János Martonyi welcomed the vote by Ukrainian lawmakers in the day for the release of former Ukranian prime minister Yulia Tymoshenko.

He said that "a long procedure urged consistently by the EU has been brought to an end." He expressed hope that this recent development would also contribute to the stabilisation of a democratic, economically prospering and territorially unified Ukraine that fully respects human rights and the principles of rule of law.

This must be based on the will of the Ukrainian society, the Hungarian Minister added, stating that Hungary is ready to extend all possible help towards this goal.
