Signing the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine at the Vilnius Summit in November is also important for the future of the Eastern Partnership – said the Hungarian Foreign Minister at the opening of the 6th EU-Ukraine Forum in Budapest on May 13.
János Martonyi stated that failure to sign this agreement would be a “missed opportunity”, the consequences of which cannot be precisely ascertained now. He highlighted that other events in 2014 may divert attention from the Eastern Partnership and EU-Ukraine relations, and so hopefully Member States that still have reservations or are undecided at the moment, will decide to sign the document in the autumn.
Deputy Prime Minister Tibor Navrasics emphasized: during the past three years Hungary has gathered a great deal of experience that could be useful to countries of the Eastern Partnership and is ready to share this with others.
