Foreign Minister János Martonyi met with Israeli Finance Minister Yair Lapid on Friday and discussed bilateral and Trans-Atlantic economic links as well as the Middle East peace process.

Minister Lapid came to Budapest, to speak at the conference entitled “Jewish Life and Anti-Semitism in Contemporary Europe”, organised by the Tom Lantos Institute.

The parties exchanged views on mutual opportunities in research and development between the two countries. They also discussed the Middle East peace process and the crisis in Syria and were in agreement that the international community’s number one task is to prevent further bloodshed in Syria. Both ministers said they were looking forward to an official visit by Minister Martonyi to Israel at the end of November.
