The Foreign Ministry’s Deputy State Secretary for Global Affairs János Hóvári and the Japanese Foreign Ministry’s Director-General for European Issues Jiro Kodera held the next round of the annual consultations of Hungarian-Japanese Foreign Ministries in Tokyo on 16 January 2012.

Hungary finds its relations with Japan of great importance; however, these relations require renewal. To achieve this, the parties agreed to do everything in order to adjust the relations between the two countries to the challenges of the 21st century. At the beginning of this year, the meeting of the scientific and technological committee of the two countries takes place in Budapest; the main topic of the meeting is the cooperation in innovation.

János Hóvári handed over the invitation of the Hungarian party to his partner to ask Japan to participate on a high level in the cyber space conference to be organised in Budapest in October 2012. The next consultation of Foreign Ministries is to be held in Budapest at the beginning of 2013.
