On the side-lines of the ASEM Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, on June 6 2011, Peter Rider Ambassador of New Zealand to Berlin accredited to Hungary and János Hóvári deputy state-secretary signed the bilateral Working Holiday Scheme. This Agreement provides the opportunity to young New Zealanders and Hungarians travelling to each other’s countries to get a temporary working permit.

According to the Agreement, annually 100 citizens of New Zealand and Hungary each, aged between 18 and 35 has the opportunity to work no longer than three months by one employer while studying or being on holiday in each other’s countries.

The Agreement is supposed to come into effect during 2011.

Klára Szentirmay, Honorary Consul General of Hungary to Wellington and Rezső Sárdi, Honorary Consul of New Zealand to Hungary also participated at the signing ceremony.
