The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary welcomes the unanimous adoption of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2127 (2013) dated December 5, authorizing the African Union to deploy a peacekeeping mission to the Central African Republic, and giving consent to French military presence supporting the mission.
Hungary equally welcomes the Security Council’s decision on enacting an arms embargo against the country. The adoption of the resolution is particularly timely considering the confrontations of December 5 leading to the death of more than 100 people. We express our hope that as a result of the resolution appropriate measures will be taken enabling the ending of the bloodshed, the immediate cessation of violence, and the handling of the conflict. Hungary appreciates the forward looking role of France in this process and count on her resolute engagement in resolving the conflict.
