The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned the recent abduction of two Christian bishops in Syria.

Hungary feels deep concern over the emergence of „religiously motivated violence” in Syria as it endangers the success of democratic transition, the Ministry said in a statement issued on April 26, 2013.

Bishop Boulos Yazigi of the Greek Orthodox Church and Bishop John Ibrahim of the Assyrian Orthodox Church were kidnapped by gunmen on Monday while they were travelling outside Aleppo towards the Turkish border. Their driver was shot dead.
