The UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) organises regional humanitarian outreach forums in Europe since 2009. The aim of these events is to raise awareness on the basics of international humanitarian coordination, to provide general information on the role of OCHA, and to discuss current humanitarian crises and challenges. This year, the forum titled „European Humanitarian Partnership Forum – Responding in a changing world” will be organized 6.10.2011, together with the Hungarian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Budapest.

It will take a special look at the general situation of the humanitarian system, civil-military coordination during humanitarian crises, preparedness for disasters and the role of non-governmental organizations. Around 70 high-level humanitarian experts representing international organizations, EU Member States as well as countries of the Western Balkans and partners of the European Neighbourhood Policy, are to participate along with Ms Catherine Bragg, UN Assistant Secretary-General for humanitarian affairs and Mr Krzysztof Stanowski, Undersecretary of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Poland.
