The Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Hungary regards Sunday’s decision by the security cabinet of the government of Israel, easing conditions for the delivery of aid and commercial goods for civilian use, as well as certain materials which enable reconstruction, to the Gaza strip, as an important confidence-boosting development.

We hope that, with due cognisance of the rightful security interests of Israel, preparations can begin for opening overland border crossings, making it possible for the humanitarian situation in the Gaza strip to improve considerably. The Foreign Ministry supports the process of proximity talks between the parties with a view to unconditionally renewing direct talks, whose goal is to realise a negotiated settlement for a two-state solution.
