On October 10, Hungarian Foreign Minister János Martonyi held a meeting with Harish Chandrasing Rawat, Minister for Water Resources of India, who is in Hungary to attend the Budapest World Water Summit.

The two ministers agreed that water management, sanitation and coping with floods are global challenges that require the particular attention of the international community. Minister Harish Chandrasing Rawat pointed out that this was why the Budapest Water Summit was so important and relevant.  Both János Martonyi and Harish Chandrasing Rawat asserted that there were many opportunities for developing cooperation within the field of water management between the two countries.
