In order to succeed with EU initiatives, Member Sates also have to make the necessary steps, including structural reforms and economic modernisation, with a special focus on economic growth and job creation – experts concluded at a conference organised by the European Commission on 6 December in Budapest.
Ms. Enikő Győri, Minister of State for EU Affairs of the Foreign Ministry said there is agreement on the overall objectives and EU priorities are in line with Hungary’s goals, but Budapest would like to have more freedom in choosing innovative policy tools in achieving them. She said it is of utmost importance that the the country-specific recommendations should be finalised in the course of a dialogue, and the Commission needs to show a certain deree of flexibility in order to make it possible for Members States to implement adaptive strategies.
At the conference „Growth for Europe 2014” Hungarian and international experts and politicians were discussing the main conclusions of the Commission’s Annual Growth Survey for 2014, with special regard to jobs and growth.
