Deputy State Secretary Bálint Ódor paid an official visit to Rome to discuss EU issues in the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in the Ministry for EU Affairs December 5, 2013.
The purpose of the visit was to discuss each other’s positions with respect to the main issues of the upcoming EU summit and of the Italian EU Presidency in the second half of 2014. European Director Bálint Ódor stressed that only those solutions are acceptable for Hungary in economic and financial matters that ensure the equality of member states and do not impose disadvantages on Hungary in the single market. As regards EU enlargement, Hungary and Italy traditionally share the same objectives, and they agreed to do their best, the coming weeks, to accomplish the greatest possible advancement for the countries of the Western Balkans in their EU integration.
