The Visegrad Group should cooperate closely with the Baltic states, Foreign Ministry Deputy State Secretary Gergely Prőhle declared in Riga on July 5.
Deputy State Secretary Prőhle expressed his thanks to former Latvian President Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga for the report she drafted for the European Commission about the situation of the European media. It was a balanced report which put Hungary's media regulations into a European context and "cooled down" the emotions surrounding the issue.
In the Latvian Foreign Ministry, Gergely Prőhle held talks on cooperation between the Baltic states and the Visegrad Group (the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia) on issues such as energy supply. The Hungarian Deputy State Secretary said that the V4 could share its experience in regional cooperation in order to boost the organisational revitalisation of cooperation between the Baltic states.
