Hungary considers responsible, productive, efficient and safe use of cyberspace to be a priority for the 21st century.

Fostering international cooperation in this area has been an objective of Hungary since well before the 2001 signing of the Budapest Convention on Cybercrime, which is still the central international framework for cooperation on cybersecurity issues.

Political Director of the Hungarian Foreign Ministry, Peter Sztaray participated at the London Conference on Cyberspace on 1st of November 2011.

Hungary applauds the United Kingdom for taking a lead role in moving international dialogue forward with the convening of the London Conference on Cyberspace. We support the UK Government's efforts to focus the Conference on the norms of acceptable behaviour in cyberspace and to develop a better understanding of how to protect and preserve the opportunities that cyberspace offers us all.

Hungary is committed to this process and has officially offered to host the follow-up conference on cyberspace in Budapest in 2012.

It will be our aim to build on the London Conference, as well as on the Budapest Convention, by continuing the broad engagement between the public and private sectors and international cooperation to ensure that cyberspace remains a safe and trusted environment for all.
