Gen. Dr. Tibor Benkő, the Chief of the Defence Staff is participating in the Chiefs of Defence meeting of the North Atlantic Alliance. The two-day event is taking place at the NATO Headquarters in Brussels on January 16 and 17.
In addition to the 28 member states, Chiefs of Defence from several partner countries of the Alliance are also participating in the meeting and will be met in a separate session. The NATO Chiefs of Defence are to hold the first session with the countries of the Mediterranean Dialogue and the second one with the partners participating in the NATO-led operations conducted in Afghanistan and Kosovo.
In a separate session, the Chiefs of Defence will meet the Chief of Defence of the Russian Federation to approve the military cooperation plan between NATO and Russia for 2013.
Beyond the issues of partnership and operations, the Chiefs of Defence Meeting will discuss the issues related to the renewal (transformation) of the Alliance’s military capabilities as well.
