According to Minister of Defence Mr Csaba Hende the training system of Szombathely should be transformed and modernised so that it was able to fulfil the needs of industry in the region for experts trained at higher and middle levels.
In his speech delivered at the meeting of Savaria Vocational-Training Development Non-profit Limited Company the Minister of Defence emphasised that the GDP produced by the region had increased by 30% in the past year primarily thanks to the Western-Pannon Automobile Industry and Mechatronics Centre. Last year the Hungarian government qualified this Centre as of high priority, similarly to the centres in Kecskemét and Győr.
Currently the unemployment rate in the region is below 6% which means, with some exaggeration, that it can be stated that nearly anybody can find a job if they want to. Mr Csaba Hende said that these companies might symbolise the future because they can create 25,000 jobs thanks to investments worth HUF 250 billion in the next 10 years. It is important to note that these companies will need qualified workers. Among others these are the requirements which generate the engineer training to be launched in Szombathely in 2015.
In accordance with a recent government resolution the debts of Szombathely were completely compensated by the state therefore the seat of Vas County can spend its resources on the development of vocational training among other things.
