Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) Admiral James Stavridis paid a three-day official visit to Afghanistan. He was accompanied by Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Budapest, who thanked the Hungarian troops for their sacrifice in serving with NATO in Afghanistan.
Supreme Allied Commander Europe (SACEUR) Admiral James Stavridis paid a three-day official visit to Afghanistan. His tour of the theatre started in Kabul where he met the deputy commander of ISAF, continued at the Regional Command South-West, then finally he went to ISAF Regional Command-North in Mazar-e Sharif.
At his request, Admiral James Stavridis met soldiers who are deployed in the areas of operations on a daily basis. He asked them about their experiences and the lessons learned. A small team from the Force Protection (FP) company of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT) was also present at the display technical and tactical equipment held for the high-ranking guests. They met Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Budapest, who thanked the Hungarian troops for their sacrifice in serving with NATO in Afghanistan.
In addition to Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, the admiral was accompanied by Ambassador Mariot Leslie, the permanent representative of the United Kingdom, Ambassador Veronika Wand, Swedish permanent representative and Ambassador Robert A. Mandell, the permanent representative of Luxembourg.
