A scientific conference titled ‘Western-Balkans’ was held in Budapest on November 24.
The event was organized by the Military Security Office of the Hungarian Republic and the HDF Geoinformation Service.’’Engagement in Afghanistan is considered to be the most important crisis management operation of NATO. Undoubtedly, stability in the Balkans is of key significance for our country, therefore Hungary’s participation in the region has priority’’, Brig. Gen. László Domján emphasized in his lecture.
The Director of MSO of the Hungarian Republic underlined: ’’Hungary has the knowledge and the expertise in this field. This conference provides a perfect platform for exchanging political ideas, military-operational conceptions and research results.”
Lectures were delivered by the Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr János Hóvári, Brig. Gen.Dr József Boda, Director of the Special Service for National Security of Hungary, Dr habil Maria Rédei, D.Sc, associate professor of the Department of Socio-Economic Geography, ELTE University, and Dr habil Norbert Pap, associate professor of the University of Pécs, Director of East Mediterranean and Balkan studies.
During the conference not only Hungary’s foreign policy, police peacekeeping and operational experience in the Balkans, but also security situation, migration, and state construction intentions in the West-Balkans were deeply analyzed.
