An informal meeting of EU Defence Policy Directors will be held on 27-28 January 2011 in Budapest.

The meeting will be chaired by Deputy State Secretary for Defence Policy and Planning Mr. Péter Siklósi, and Deputy Secretary General of the European External Action Service Mr. Maciej Popowski.

Defence Policy Directors will devote the meeting to preparations of concrete items on the agenda of the informal meeting of Defence ministers to be held on 24 and 25 February.

During the two-day session Defence Policy Directors will exchange views upon EU’s ongoing military operations and current issues of the EU’s CSDP. Moreover EU military capability development and the relations between the Union and its strategic partners are to be discussed.

The European Defence Agency will be represented at the meeting by the newly appointed Chief Executive Ms. Claude-France Arnould.

Director General of EU Military Staff General Ton van Osch, Ambassador Hüseyin Diriöz, NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning will also attend the meeting of EU Defence Policy Directors.
