Hungarian Defence Forces have taken the delivery of new US-made Humvees on the military base of the Operational Mentoring and Liaison Team (HDF OMLT) in Khilagay, Afghanistan.

The former Humvees have been replaced by new type armament carriers. The M1151 HMMWV is an improved armament carrier configuration of the HMMWV family.

It is a lightweight, high performance, four-wheel drive, air transportable and air droppable, tactical wheeled vehicle. It has a diesel engine and an automatic transmission. Fully-loaded M1151 armament carriers can climb road grades as steep as 22 degrees and traverse a side slope of up to 13.5 degrees. They are particularly useful in the mountainous terrain of Afghanistan.
