In the morning of Tuesday, June 26 Dr. István Simicskó, the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence received Vice-Admiral Dragan Samardzic, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Montenegro on an office call.
During the courtesy call, which had a congenial atmosphere, István Simicskó stressed that Hungary appreciates Montenegro’s efforts to join NATO in the shortest possible time. The State Secretary pointed out that our country continues to support the enlargement of the North Atlantic Alliance in the Balkans.
Vice-Admiral Dragan Samardzic said thanks for the Hungarian assistance with the NATO accession process, and praised the cooperation of the two countries in peace support operations. Both partners agreed that the successful ending of the NATO ISAF mission in Afghanistan is a common interest, and – through the Montenegrin military participation – it may have a positive influence on the mutual image of the Alliance and the Balkan country.
