The department is under the direction of the Head of the Cabinet.

The fundamental tasks of the Press Office are to coordinate the public appearance of the minister and MoD events, to organize press and public appearance for the management of MoD and to coordinate public statements of the ministry. In order to do this, ministerial press releases are written and sent to editorials and news agencies. Further tasks of the Press Office are to plan, analyze and evaluate the topics concerning the MoD in all printed publications, represent MoD in the NATO Military Audio Visual Working Group, keep contact with and EU and NATO communications organizations, provide information regarding bilateral international military relations, prepare press coverage of international military exercises and participate in implementation of the exercises.
