Soldiers of twelve nations keep peace in the Sinai Peninsula.
Minister of Defence Dr Csaba Hende has visited the Hungarian soldiers stationed together with policemen in the North and the South Camps MFO (South Camp Multinational Force and Observers) in Egypt.
Decades ago Sharm el-Sheik was little more than a military base at the southernmost tip of the Sinai Peninsula lived by the peacekeepers of the SC MFO (South Camp Multinational Force and Observers). By now the city has become a world-famous Red Sea resort of the Sinai. According to the American commander the atmosphere at the military camp next to Sharm el-Sheik is said to be homely.
M. Rochelle briefed Csaba Hende on the tasks of the troops and the proficiency in accomplishment of their duties emphasizing that the Hungarians proved to be the best soldiers of the contingent. At the end of his briefing the Colonel praised the goulash as a soup of a unique taste cooked by the Hungarian military personnel.
Commander of the Hungarian contingent Zoltán Szegedi informed the minister about his troops. He said that the soldiers could count on each other in every gruelling situation.
Following the briefings the delegation had dinner together with the Hungarian servicemen.
Dr Csaba Hende was accompanied to Sharm el-Sheik by the Head of the Cabinet Office, Dr Gábor Szarka, the Deputy Chief of the Defence Staff Major General Zoltán Orosz and Brigadier General László Domján the director of the Military Security Office.
