The Ministry of Defence – in order to foster the co-operation within the Spanish-Belgian-Hungarian Trio Presidency as well as to prepare for the Hungarian EU presidency – will delegate a liaison officer to the Belgian Ministry of Defence for the period of the Belgian Presidency in the second half of 2010.

Accordingly, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed by Mr Pieter De Crem, Belgian Minister of Defence, and Mr József Bali, State Secretary for Defence Policy of the Hungarian Ministry of Defence, on the margins of the meeting of EU Defence Ministers in Luxemburg on April 26, 2010. The delegation of liaison officers to preceding Presidencies has been an established practice that serves the realisation of common objectives, a smooth transition between the Presidencies, the quick exchange of information, as well as to gain direct, practical experiences related to the Presidency work. Another liaison officer has been delegated to the Spanish Ministry of Defence for the term of the Spanish Presidency.
