Last July the Hungarian Republic confirmed its intention to redeploy the Hungarian KFOR contingent from Peč to Pristine, Kosovo. From March 2011 on the next rotation of the Hungarian contingent will be under the direct control of KFOR Commander. The Hungarian servicemen will be redeployed at Camp Slim Lines in Pristine led by Portuguese troops.
The majority of the new rotation consists of the troops of the HDF 5th ‘István Bocskai’ Infantry Brigade. The coordinating tasks have been done by the HDF Joint Forces Command. The redistribution of forces (units and personnel), their equipment and supplies from Peč and Pristine has proved to be the greatest challenge of the coordinating task. The operational squadron of KFOR 4th contingent started its preparation simultaneously.
The Hungarian and the Portuguese troops were jointly trained at Camp Slim Lines, Pristine. The military training proved to be useful, since the two manoeuvre squadrons exchanged experience bringing the troops of the two nations together. They practiced the use of GPS satellite and radio-tracking system as well as riot control abilities.
