’’The value of this flag is in the community you serve, the homeland you defend and the nation symbolised by the colours of the flag. ’’Minister of Defence Csaba Hende said at the flag handover ceremony of the Ludovika Battalion. The event marked the beginning of the 2nd Ludovika Festival in Orczy Park, Budapest.

Minister of Defence added: “Our task is to renew the entire system of home defence and the HDF. As soon as we complete this task, the HDF will be loved and respected by all the Hungarian people.” Afterwards Csaba Hende addressed the cadets: ’’ In 100 days’ time you will become officer cadets. Be faithful to the motto: For the homeland onto death!’’ Mrs. Schmitt Makray Katalin, the wife of the President of the Hungarian Republic tiding the ribbon on the flag said: ’’Take care of the flag since it is a sacred symbol for all citizens who love their homeland. “

LTC Zsolt Molnár, Commander of Ludovika Battalion asked the cadets to be proud of the battalion and the traditions. “The name of the Ludovika Battalion is binding. You should be worthy of it by living according to these virtues.” the lieutenant colonel said. Máté Kocsis, Chairman of Law Enforcement and Defence Committee, and Mayor of the 8th district, Budapest outlined in his speech: ’’As a mayor I am proud of having Ludovika building in this district, since it is a symbol of national independence.” The flag handover ceremony marked the beginning of the 2nd Ludovika Festival in Orczy Park, Budapest. During the week-end visitors got insight into traditions of the Hungarian military history.
