Col. Dr. Péter Lippai, the Acting Deputy Commander of HDF 5th István Bocskai Infantry Brigade delivered a talk about Afghanistan and the role of the Hungarian soldiers in the mission to the students of the “Gábor Dénes Electronics and Engineering Secondary Vocational School and Dormitory” participating in the Military School “Katonasuli” program.
Col. Lippai returned home from a tour of duty abroad in spring 2011. He served in Afghanistan as the Commander of the 11th Rotation of the HDF Provincial Reconstruction Team (HUN PRT-11). During the exceptional lesson he i.a. spoke about the Islam country itself, about the so-called asymmetrical warfare, the role of the Hungarian soldiers and their everyday life in the mission. After the talk, the colonel answered the questions of the students.
As from the next school year the Debrecen-based Gábor Dénes Electronics and Engineering Secondary Vocational School and Dormitory, providing engineering, electronics and IT training on a high level for many years now, will be transformed into a military secondary school unequalled in the country. According to a Declaration of Intent signed in the autumn of 2011, the Ministry of Defence will build a sponsoring system, and provide the materials, the tools and the military instructors for the teaching of the subject.
As from September 1, 2012, the training will be launched in two classes specialised in electrical engineering, where the students will sign up for the military basics as a mandatory subject. A special emphasis will be laid on national defence training in the curriculum – and within that, on the drills and the practical sessions −, the professional supervision of which will be provided by the soldiers of the infantry regiment from the neighbourhood of the institution.
