Defense Administration Office (DAO) is a public administration organisation under the control and direction of the Minister of Defense. Director General is Brigadier General József Tokovicz PhD.

DAO is responsible for coordination of home defense issues, playing an interface role between military and civilian side of the society. DAO harmonises and coordinates defense administration tasks of central, territorial and local defense administration bodies, including governmental, self-governmental organisations and NGO-s as well.

DAO’s main areas of responsibilities are crisis management, military assistance of disaster relief efforts, Civil Military Planning, civil-military interaction, Critical Infrastructure Protection, mobilisation of national economy, Host Nation Support and selected areas of military administration.
