The Hungarian Ministry of Defence and the Zrínyi Miklós National Defence University, in co-operation with the European Security and Defence College organised the 4th module of the 6th ESDC High Level Course, on 6-10 June 2011 in Budapest. The module was opened by the Minister of Defence, Csaba Hende.
Almost 60 senior experts dealing with strategic aspects of CSDP (diplomats, military, police and academics) representing the EU member countries and institutions, participated at the course. The lecturers ranged from national and EU institutional experts and executives, such as Adaw Sowa, EDA Deputy Chief Executive and Etelka Barsiné Pataky, government commissioner for the Danube Strategy, to academics, e.g. Sven Biscop from the Egmont Institute, Dominique David from IFRI.
The main objective of the module was to help the participants apply the knowledge acquired during the first three modules on CSDP structures. In order to achieve that, the course contained a strategic level exercise on the initiation and decision-making phase of a crisis management operation.
The participants visited Pápa Airbase, and were briefed on experiences of the SAC programme.
