’’We have not faced the tragedy of the Holocaust for forty years and we have not done it after the change of the regime, either. We cannot avoid facing what we have lost. We have to remember to be able to say with a strong will and conviction that never, never, never again can something like this happen again.” Minister of Defence Csaba Hende said at the Holocaust commemorative event held in the garden of the former synagogue of Győr on 15 April.

’’Holocaust is part of our history and history will not come to an end ever. It is part of our lives.” Csaba Hende emphasized. At the commemorative event Deputy Mayor of Győr Dr Tivadar Somogyi, and Tibor Villányi, President of the Jewish Community in Győr also gave a speech. Following the commemorative speeches honouring the victims of the Holocaust, participants placed pebbles of remembrance at the Holocaust memorial.
