The main tasks and responsibilities of the directorate are the next:

  • working out of the rules and regulations regarding military medicine according to the applicable laws and rules of both Hungary and of NATO,
  • process of regulations considering the tasks in connection with providing medical support to international military operations,
  • coordination and tasking of medical training, monitoring medical education, taking part in the activities of disease management medicine,
  • supervision of basic and higher level (from ROLE-1 to ROLE-4) medical health care partly through the Board of Senior Military Medical Specialists,
  • supervision and control of medical training for the full spectrum of military medical personnel, including the coordination and supervision of the post-gradual education of the doctors of military medical service,
  • screening and checking-up of aptitude control of civilian and military personnel serving within or for the Hungarian Defence Forces, providing aptitude control for those beside military whom defined by all applicable laws including personnel of police and of national correctional institutes, etc.,
  • management of regular partnership with the military medical community of other NATO-PfP countries, medical universities, etc.,
  • regular cooperation with other departments of HUN MoD considering the tasks of the HDF military medical service,
  • working out of strategic concepts, doctrines and plans regarding the modernization and development of the capabilities of HDF military medical service,
  • planning and controlling the tasks of the System of Alarming and Sustainment of Military Readiness,
  • coordination of tasks for keeping military personnel fit via running the HDF preventive health development and health sustainment programs,
  • the supervising and coordination of the activities of psychologists even at unit level,
  • strategic-level medical planning regarding protective measures and operations against terrorist activities,
  • providing the full scale of medical equipment to HDF in parallel with the coordination of research and coordination of them,
  • planning and supervision of veterinary activities within HDF.
