Air Force General José Julio Rodriguez Fernandez, Chief of Defence Staff of Spain has paid an official visit to Budapest. The High-ranking guest has been received by Lieutenant General Dr Tibor Benkő, Chief of Defence Staff of the HDF.

Air Force General José Julio Rodriguez Fernandez and his accompany were received with military honours by Lieutenant General Tibor Benkő on November 23.The Chief of Defence Staff of Spain paid a complimentary visit at the Minister of Defence, Dr Csaba Hende. Afterwards he was shown the Hungarian Coronation Jewellery at the building of Parliament. The members of the two delegations had plenary talks at Hotel Hadik about the Centre of Excellence of the HDF established by the Spanish, providing a platform for C-IED (Counter Improvised Explosive Devices) technologies. Lieutenant General Tibor Benkő informed the Spanish partner about the transformation of the Hungarian Defence Forces, the participation in peacekeeping operations and the preparation for the upcoming Hungarian EU Presidency. Moreover they exchanged views concerning the current issues of the two armed forces. Following the official negotiations Spanish guests attended cultural events.
