The Hungarian Government considers it a key task to help young people obtain skills sought-after on the labour market as well as work experience and jobs after they have completed their studies, Minister of State for Employment Sándor Czomba said at a press conference held in Rakamaz, at the Hegyalja Festival.

It has been one of the objectives of Hungary’s economic policy to move towards high added value production within which the strengthening of research, development and innovation are to play a key role, Minister of State for Economic Strategy Zoltán Cséfalvay said at a speech he gave in the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) in Washington.

Developing economic relations between Hungary and the sub-Saharan nations holds great potential, Minister of National Economy Mihály Varga said in Budapest on Friday.
According to the latest report by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office, in Q1 2013 Hungarian GDP – in line with prior estimates – increased by 0.7 percent in comparison to the previous quarter, which figure is the result of outstanding, 27.6 percent growth in agricultural output and the 1.5 percent expansion of the construction sector.

At the press conference organised to evaluate the Government’s economic policy over the past three years, Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga said that the Hungarian Government and Brussels are also expecting economic growth to be about 1.5% for 2014, which is a realistic estimate, but if Europe succeeds in emerging from the recession, increased exports will mean even greater growth for Hungary. The Government has laid the foundations for economic growth, but Hungarian growth cannot be expected to pick up without an upswing in Europe, Minister Varga said.
Last year was an outstanding one from the aspect of women’s employment: their employment rate exceeded 52 percent, which has been unprecedented in the past twenty years, Ministerial Commissioner Piroska Szalai, responsible for improving the labour market prospects of women, said at a press conference in Budapest.
The document, which is the 25th Strategic Partnership Agreement concluded so far by the Hungarian Government, was signed by Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga and President-CEO of Siemens Zrt Dale A. Martin.
