Monostorpályi is building the future, Minister of State for Employment Sándor Czomba said when he ceremonially connected the solar panel park to Hungary’s domestic electricity network. The HUF 195 million investment project, which produces 300 thousand kWh of electricity per year, was implemented by the support of the European Union.

The Minister of State called the project exemplary through which the local government of this small settlement will receive revenues of HUF 10-11 million via the sale of electricity generated by solar energy. Sándor Czomba said that the public employment model programmes launched in the village provide work for more than 150 people, and thus every able-bodied local resident has a job in Monostorpályi.

Responding to a question, the Minister of State reiterated that between 1 November and 30 April 200 thousand people will be employed under the public work scheme, which has been the highest figure since the programme was introduced. Out of them, Sándor Czomba added, 100 thousand people will take part in various training courses.

Mayor of Monostorpályi József Szabó said at the opening ceremony of the solar power station that half of the investment project costs were financed by the EU and the other half by domestic state funds, while they also took out a credit for securing their own funding. The altogether 1060 solar panels were set up outside the village, on an area owned by the local government. The mayor also said that the investment project has been finalized by the assistance of Slovakian and Romanian suppliers along with that of Hungarians.
