Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga received Indonesia’s Minister of Public Works Djoko Kirmanto in his office today.
The Minister’s visit was a follow-up to the consultations in Hungary by Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono at the beginning of March this year.
The meeting focused on cooperation within the field of water supply, and therefore visits to several water supply facilities are also on Minister Kirmanto’s agenda.
As part of its “Eastern Opening” policy, the Government intends to forge closer relations with Indonesia, a country with increasing weight in the region. As a sign of the Government’s commitment, and aid budget of USD 50 million was provided for the country to purchase and transport mobile water purifiers. This step will also boost Hungarian exports. The Government expects that domestic enterprises – and especially SMEs – will in the future have more opportunities to participate in Indonesian infrastructure development projects.
