The production facility for producing water pumps of the Italy-based DAB Production Hungary Ltd was ceremonially opened in Nagykanizsa.

At the event, Minister of State for Employment Sándor Czomba stressed that the fact that the Italian company opted for the city in the south of Zala County carries a message which is important also from the aspect of employment. Before making such decisions, enterprises evaluate several factors, such as the investment environment or the stability of the tax system – in addition to assessing whether the size of available skilled labour force is sufficient. The Minister of State added that in the upcoming period, in 2014-2020, several small- and medium-sized enterprises are expected to become capable of joining the production of materials and end-products through development funds.

Sándor Czomba said that in the coming years, the Government aims to bolster the productive sector as GDP growth is not attainable without this segment.

DAB Group CEO Attilio Conca said that the conglomerate has seven factories in Italy and one in China, while the one in Nagykanizsa is their first Hungarian production site.  The 5000sqm-production hall operated by a self-sustaining energy-generating system will produce water pumps used by households, in agriculture and the industry. According to plans, the site will produce 500 thousand pumps per year, which will cover demand on the Central and Eastern European market.

As Attilio Conca emphasised, the factory currently employs 35 people, but this figure is anticipated to reach 180-200 by 2015.

He underlined that Nagykanizsa is an ideal spot for the company, as there is sufficient, high-skilled labour force and excellent infrastructure in the region.

Nagykanizsa Mayor Péter Cseresnyés said that through infrastructural development projects an investor-friendly environment has been created.

The city has drawn attention to the location by a systematic and effective marketing campaign and they have been flexible, as much as possible, in addressing investor demands which were arising during the project’s implementation phase. He also added that there is a pool of highly-skilled, experienced professionals in the city and such an education system has been established which can quickly adjust to market requirements.
