The government has earmarked 85 million forints (EUR 284,000) to help the workers dismissed by Sanyo’s plant in Dorog to find new jobs.
Under the scheme administered by the Ministry of National Economy, those losing their jobs have good chances to find new employment within one or two months. A total of 545 people including 101 Slovak nationals will be dismissed from the solar panel manufacturing plant due to its closure. Sanyo Hungary, a member of the Panasonic group, announced the company’s closure in early July by May 2014, citing a drop in demand for solar panels in Europe.
