Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga presented the “Investor of the Month” award to Infineon Technologies Cegléd Ltd; while Digiterm Ltd was awarded the “SME of the Month” title, and in the category of “Start-up of the Month” the Minister handed the award to the Distinction Ltd in a ceremony held in the building of the Ministry for National Economy in Budapest.
The Minister stressed that by presenting these awards the Government aims to draw attention to Hungarian success stories and successful enterprises. He added that these distinctions show that the Hungarian economy is capable of renewal, innovation and development which can generate more jobs and profit.
Mihály Varga emphasised that enterprises which create jobs and generate income for the country can rely on the help of the Government.
Infineon Technologies Corporation is a world-leader in the development and production of industrial semiconductors; through its subsidiaries it employs more than 27 600 people around the world and in the 2013 business year the company’s revenues totalled EUR 3.9bn.
The corporation is currently implementing a new development project valued at EUR 65.6 million in Cegléd, one of their largest projects in Europe. The project, expected to create 533 new jobs, aims to meet increased demand for semiconductors and expand existing capacities by modern, competitive technologies. Until 2018, the date when the new facility reaches full capacity, the company will increase headcount to 1050.
Through their dialysis chairs, developed and produced by the company, Digiterm Ltd has become a renowned manufacturer on the European dialysis market over the past twenty years.
The Hungarian-owned enterprise employs almost 50 people, has annual sales turnover of more than one billion forints and exports products to more than forty countries all over the world. The market share of Digiterm within the European dialysis chair production exceeds 10 percent, but year after year the company gains more ground in Russia, South Africa, Arab and African countries.
Distinction Ltd is a mobile software developer start-up company, supplying global companies such as Red Bull, Skyscanner or Microsoft, but Audi has also been among their clients. In addition, the enterprise reaches several millions of users a day at various points of the world through their self-developed mobile apps, such as cocktail flow, weather flow or appflow. The enterprise was founded by Bálint Orosz, Ákos Kapui and László Zöld, who together won the third place in the 2008 Paris final of the Microsoft Imagine Cup.
This competition has inspired the team, university students at that time, to launch their company with the name Distinction in September 2010. The company has become an enterprise with 22 employees and annual revenues of some HUF 300 million.
