In the opinion of the Minister for National Economy Mihály Varga, an expansionary period is taking shape within the Hungarian economy and during this time the Government counts on enterprises which are capable of underpinning growth.
Speaking at the presentation of the “Awards for Successful Enterprises” Mihály Varga stated that after a period of consolidation the output of the Hungarian economy is picking up steam and economic growth is expected to be double the figure of last year. He added that it is now time to identify those growth factors which in the coming years may help achieve a larger expansion figure than the 2 percent projected for this year.
DownloadSince August 2013, the awards – which the Minister had initiated – are presented in three categories every month. In December, Master Good Corporation received the “Investor of the Month” award; Weinberg ’93 Ltd. was awarded the “SME of the Month” title, while in the category of “Start-up of the Month” Mihály Varga presented the award to Borecet Ltd.
At the ceremony, the Minister pointed out that the award, which he presented for the fifth time, has managed through the media to achieve that more attention is being paid to the successes and achievements of Hungarian enterprises. He added that the number of success stories which deserve appreciation within the Hungarian economy is increasing and this indicates that the economy has the potential required for reinvigorating the economy in post-crisis years.
DownloadThe winner of the “Investor of the Month” award, Master Food Ltd., is a family-owned company which operates the largest Central European poultry processing facility in Kisvárda. Output of the production site constitutes 30 percent of the country’s total. The corporation is also active in the field of fodder production, poultry farming and breeding. The Bárány family, the owner of Master Food, has been in the poultry farming business for almost 100 years, over four generations. The corporation has been one of the largest employers in the region with 1200 people on the payroll and it also contributes to the livelihood of 350 grain growers and of more than 40 families which make their living from animal husbandry.
DownloadThe Weinberg ’93 Ltd., to which the “SME of the Month” award was assigned, was founded 20 years ago in Sárospatak. The company produces primarily industrial halls of reinforced concrete and steel constructions. The headquarters of the company, situated in Northern Hungary, operates as a production and vocational training facility. The enterprise also has a representative office in Budapest. The company’s annual turnover is some EUR 20 million. The annual turnover at Weinberg Ltd.’s Kosice subsidiary exceeds EUR 5 million.
DownloadBorecet Ltd, which received the “Start-up of the Month” award, was launched in 2009, in the village of Bodrogkeresztúr. The family enterprise makes 400 thousand litre of premium quality wine vinegar under the name Tokaji Borecet. The company’s products contain no artificial components; they are made solely from natural ingredients obtained from wines and acetic acid bacteria. In addition to Hungary, the company’s products are also sold in Sweden, Switzerland, Romania and Serbia.
